2026 Victorian Track & Field Championships
The 2026 Victorian Track & Field Championships were held across two weekends, delivering near-perfect conditions for competition and a strong showing from the club.
In what has been the club’s largest representation at the championships in over five years, 10 athletes competed across the Championships. The campaign proved highly successful, securing three medals and eight top-five finishes across a range of events.
In the Open Women’s competition, Chloe Grenade produced an impressive performance across the jumps, securing a silver medal in the Triple Jump with 12.90m and backing up with a fourth-place finish in the Long Jump with a leap of 6.04m.
Donna-Marie Elms added to the medal tally in the 60–64 Women’s category, claiming bronze in the 3000m Walk with a time of 20:53.11.
The Open Men’s sprint team showed strong depth, with multiple athletes competing across various distances. Having ran 11.22 in the preliminary rounds, Dean Chan advance to the semi-finals of the 100m, clocking 11.29, in cold conditions. Joe Liu (11.78) and Arnavjot Aulakh (11.72) also competed strongly in the 100m, while Liu backed up in the 200m, running 23.84. Aulakh also contested the 110m Hurdles but was unfortunately disqualified.
In the field, Frank Brisevac narrowly missed the podium in the Open Men’s Triple Jump, finishing fourth with a best jump of 14.80m.
Emerging talent was on display in the junior ranks. In the U16 Women’s events, Anwita Prasanth ran 28.07 in the preliminary final of the 200m and secured a silver medal in the Triple Jump with 10.81m.
Aarthika Jeevithan competed strongly in the U14 Women’s jumps, finishing eighth in the Long Jump (4.52m) and just outside the medals in fourth place in the Triple Jump (9.77m).
In the men’s junior events, Rajnihal Singh Bhullar placed fifth in the U17 Triple Jump with 11.78m, while Ansh Chauhan recorded two top-eight finishes in the U15 category, placing fifth in the Hammer Throw (20.36m) and eighth in the Shot Put (7.66m).
Overall, the championships marked a significant step forward for the club, highlighted by strong participation, podium success, and a promising pipeline of developing athletes.
The Club would like to Jeff and Shirley Hawkins for their valued support of all athletes throughout the Championships. We also acknowledge Cheryl Duff’s important contribution in her role as an official with Athletics Victoria during the event.
