Gym Conditions of Entry and Code of Conduct

To ensure the safety and well-being of all athletes and coaches using the gym, and in accordance with safety regulations and requirements of Darebin City Council and Athletics Victoria, the following conditions must be met.

Failing to meet the Conditions of Entry and Code of Conduct may result in key access being revoked and/or termination of a Club membership.

    • Athletes must be currently registered with Preston Athletic Club in order to use the gym and its equipment.

    • Coaches must be a registered club coach and hold a current Australian Athletics coaching accreditation and a valid Working With Children’s Check in order to have access to the gym.

    • Athletes must actively represent the club ie. those found to have purchased an athlete membership to gain cheap gym access and not represent the club will have their membership terminated.

    • Coaches must only permit registered Preston Athletic Club members to use the gym. Any athlete that is not a member of the club, regardless of who their coach is, is not permitted to use the gym and its equipment.

    • Athletes under the age of 18 must be supervised by a coach at all times.

    • Non-members or those with the non-appropriate membership should respectfully be asked to vacate the gym.

    • Gym keys are restricted to Committee members and club coaches.

    • Elite and senior athletes who require gym access outside of official training hours may apply to the Committee to request a key. Applications should provide a valid reason for requiring access outside of official training hours.

    • Keys holders are not to provide or lend their key to another club member or member of the public.

    • When operating any of the following please ensure there is at least one other person present: squat rack, bench press and leg press.

    • Equipment is to be stored away safely and in the correct spot at the conclusion of a session.

    • To ensure the safety of all users, please clean up any spilt water or sand.

    • Athletes must wear appropriate footwear at all times when using the gym facilities ie. runners or squat shoes.

    • Athletes are prohibited from wearing crocs, thongs, sandals or any other inappropriate footwear when using gym facilities and equipment.

    • Spikes are prohibited from being worn indoors at any time.

    • Coaches must ensure that athletes know how to correctly and safely perform an exercise and use specific gym equipment.

    • Any safety hazards should be reported to a coach or committee member.

    • Gym users should respect the space of other users and maintain a safe distance when conducting exercises.

    • Photos and videos of other users should not be taken unless given permission to do so.

    • Appropriate and respectful language should be used at all times.

    • Committee members are to be notified of any inappropriate gym use and/or breach of the Conditions of Entry and Code of Conduct.
