How did you get started in athletics?

I watched the 2000 Sydney Olympics and was inspired to do athletics. I hassled Mum until she took me to Preston/Reservoir Little Athletics, where I competed until U15’s, then joined Preston Athletic Club.

What do you do to prepare for competition?

I have Weetbix for breakfast in the morning, then a bowl of pasta about 4 hours prior to race time. I like to be alone as I can be nervous!  I mentally rehearse my race and sometimes do some drills in the morning to ease the nerves.

Do you have a mantra?

Be assertive, be positive, and you DO belong. I sometimes write “be assertive” on my hand as a reminder.

Who are your idols?

David Rudisha (current 800m world record holder).

What are your goals for the next year?

To break 1.50.0 at the Briggs Athletic Classic Hobart

Compete in the Melbourne Track Classic against David Rudisha

Victorian and Australian Championships

What are your long term goals?

2016 Olympics in Rio

Represent Australia

Commonwealth Games

If you could invite four people to a dinner party who would it be?

Usain Bolt, Ricky Gervais, Will Ferrell, Chris Martin (Coldplay)

Tell us something that most people don’t know about you.

I have been playing the piano for 15 years.

Interesting Fact:

I spent 4 years (from age of 2) in a remote aboriginal community in the Northern Territory with my family. Even though I was very young, this experience had a significant impact on me – particularly for appreciating things in life.
